DESPLAY (Democracy Series for Participatory Learning and Actions by Youth) is Africa’s foremost and most consistent annual youth democracy academy. The program which deepens young people’s knowledge about democracy and fosters active youth participation in governance processes has reached hundreds and thousands of young people across Africa since 2005. It is powered by Youngstars Foundation with support from the National Endowment for Democracy NED – USA, presents the 10th edition of Democracy Series for Participatory Learning and Actions by Youth (DESPLAY)

What DESPLAY Season 10 Offers:
• Admission slots for ONLY 40 young people within Africa (especially from West and Central Africa).
• Three (3) Semesters/Workshops of 4 days each in Nigeria.
• About 30 knowledge based sessions and focus group discussions and activities.
• Obtain a youth democracy engagement toolkit (Video and Handbook – FREE)
• 10 day learning visit to a Southern African country practicing democracy.
• Get a chance to run for Office of President of DESPLAY Republic Season 10
• Opportunity to meet and network with young democrats around the Africa.
• Opportunity to challenge and improve your personal leadership influence and impact among others.

Call for Applications: The Young Aspirants Leadership Fellowship (YALF) – Season 2

Are you a  youth thinking about contesting for elective position? Do you believe you have what it takes to lead and contribute to nation building through politics?

Then YALF Season 2 is for you. Come and understand:

  • What is elective position and public office
  • How youth can effectively run for elective offices
  • How young females can achieve their political aspirations
  • What are the best entry points for youth interested in elective positions
  • Participate in a non partisan support network to encourage youth aspirants
  • What are other resources youth can tap into towards their political aspirations

YALF Season 2 shall offer 2 workshops in Abuja and Lagos, a good governance learning visit to a highly performing state in Nigeria, a community leadership experience and certificate of participation.

Political Party Interface: There shall also be a special session with political parties.

The first workshop will hold on 24th – 28th March 2014 in Abuja, Nigeria.

Eligibility

Youth between the ages of 18 and 35, interested in running for political office.

Selected candidates will pay a registration fee of N10,000.

Participants are responsible for their transportation to Abuja. Lunch and accommodation shall be provided.

This new decade is a decade in which there is a rising search for 21st century leadership and governance to mitigate our challenges and transform Africa, especially Nigeria into a world class nation. DESPLAY (Democracy Series for Participatory Learning and Actions by Youth) remains the leading and most consistent annual youth democracy academy within West Africa that has been equipping and raising young people on quality democracy culture, governance and development. Funded annually by the National Endowment for Democracy NED USA since 2005 and endorsed by the World Youth Movement for Democracy, we are very excited to once more open the Call for Application to interested youths across Africa to apply for the 8th Season of DESPLAY Africa.

Since inception, DESPLAY Africa enjoyed patronage from youth in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Cameroon and South Africa. This is your turn to join a robust and growing community of young democrats.

What DESPLAY Season 8 Offers:

About 30 knowledge based sessions and focus group discussions and activities.

Opportunity to meet and engage with young democrats around the world.
10 day learning visit to an African country practising democracy.
Get a chance to run for Office of President of DESPLAY Republic Season 8 among others.
No one completes the DESPLAY Africa program and remains the same.
Eligibility: Young people from Nigeria and any other African country between the ages of 18 – 35 years.
