Call for Applications: GenUp 2013 Summer Leadership Training
ABOUT THE TRAINING
We are living at a critical moment in human history, facing social and environmental challenges like no generation before, and a profound opportunity to remake our world. Watch this inspiring short video to learn more.
Our generation’s calling is clear: to create a thriving, just, and sustainable world that works for all, we need to take bold and systemic action; and to be effective, transformational leaders we need 21st century skills – skills we can all learn together.
Whether you’re new to social change or you’re experienced and wanting to learn new approaches, the Generation Waking Up Summer Leadership Training will support you in creating the change our world needs now.
This training will offer you skills and tools to:
– Develop leadership capacities for creating personal, interpersonal, and systemic change
– Facilitate the WakeUp – a powerful 2 to 3 hour interactive, multimedia social change tool that ignites young people into inspired action
– Organize your campus & community to engage in shared learning, community building, and collaborative action
Young people ages 16 – 30 interested in bringing innovative social change skills & tools to your community, school, or organization. (We recommend you attend this training with 1 – 2 people from your school or community if possible.)
EarthRise Retreat Center (45 minutes north of San Francisco, California)
$950 – Includes all meals, lodging, and program materials. Does not include travel or ground transportation.

WHAT WILL THIS TRAINING BE LIKE?
Each day of the training consists of a morning, afternoon, and evening session. Sessions are interactive and engaging, and include presentations, small group conversations, experiential activities, role-play, games, and creative expression. Each afternoon also includes free time for connecting with others and spending time in nature.

HOW WILL YOU BE SUPPORTED AFTER THE TRAINING?
Each participant will leave the training with a clear action plan for applying their learning back at their school and in their community. Every participant will receive follow up support from a GenUp staff member, will be part of an ongoing “peer support group,” and will work with a coach to achieve their goals and continued development as a social change leader. This ongoing network of young changemakers will be supported by an online community platform and tools for sustaining connection and collaboration.
